Frequently Asked Questions

Simple answers to some of the questions you may have about Nora.

What is Nora?

Nora is an AI companion designed for older adults. She provides friendly, meaningful conversation and can get to know you over time, making conversations more familiar and personal.

Is Nora a real person?

No. Nora is powered by artificial intelligence. She is designed to have natural conversations, but she is always an AI companion — not a human being.

What can I talk to Nora about?

Almost anything you’d normally enjoy talking about — family, memories, hobbies, sports, history, music, movies, current interests, or simply how your day is going.

What makes Nora different from a typical AI chatbot?

Nora is being designed specifically for older adults and for relationships that continue over time. She can remember important details you choose to share, making conversations more familiar and personal. Depending on your settings, Nora can also support designated-contact notifications when you don’t respond to a planned check-in and provide appropriate activity information to authorized family members or caregivers. Nora is designed to be more than a one-time conversation — while still respecting your privacy and the choices you make during setup.

Can I talk to Nora or do I have to type?

Nora is being designed for both voice and text conversation, so you can use whichever feels most comfortable.

When can I talk to Nora?

Nora is designed to be available whenever you want to talk — morning, afternoon, evening, or during a quiet moment in your day.

Is Nora supposed to replace family or caregivers?

No. Nora is meant to add connection, not replace it. Family, friends, caregivers, and real human relationships remain important. Nora simply provides another friendly presence when someone wants to talk.

Is Nora a medical service?

No. Nora is not a doctor, therapist, medical provider, or emergency service and does not diagnose medical conditions. Nora is a companion designed around conversation and connection.

Can family members be involved?

Yes. Nora is being designed so families can choose how involved they want to be, including available check-ins and notifications. Those choices are made as part of setting up the experience.

Is my information private?
